大洪水劫后，上帝以彩虹为凭与人类立下约定，不再用洪水毁灭大地。后来，诺亚的子孙在巴比伦一带建立了国家，他们逐渐骄傲自大起来，对上帝的承诺产生了怀疑。他们彼此商量：“要建造一座城和一座塔，塔顶通天，为要传扬我们的名，免得我们分散在全地上。”由于大家语言相通，很容易同心协力地工作，所以他们建成了美丽繁华的巴比伦城和直入云霄的通天塔。上帝看到了人类的堕落，于是区别开了人类的语言，使他们再也不能齐心协力地做事。
几千年来，人们都认为巴别通天塔的故事只是一个神话传说。然而，考古学家在古巴比伦遗址上发现了一个由石块、泥砖砌成的拱形建筑废墟，废墟中间有口正方形的大井。起初，考古学家以为这是空中花园的遗址，直到后来在附近出土了一块记载巴别通天塔的方位和式样的石碑，考古学家才得知这就是巴别通天塔的塔基。
这个故事提醒了我要怀有敬畏之心，人类想与上帝比肩，于是招来了灾祸。在日常生活中，我也要做到谦卑、有礼貌，尊重长辈，认真听从叔叔的教导。

For thousands of years, people have believed that the story of the Tower of Babel is just a myth. However, archaeologists have discovered the ruins of a vaulted building made of stones and mud bricks on the ruins of ancient Babylon, with a large square well in the middle of the ruins. At first, archaeologists thought that this was the site of the Hanging Gardens. It was not until later that a stone tablet recording the orientation and style of the Tower of Babel was unearthed nearby that archaeologists learned that this was the base of the Tower of Babel.
This story reminds me to have a heart of awe. Human beings want to stand shoulder to shoulder with God, so they invite disasters. In my daily life, I also have to be humble, polite, respect my elders, and listen to uncle's teachings.
